About Dani Werner

My path into photography began as a teenager when I found a Polaroid camera and started photographing friends, staging our own photo shoots and documenting people on the street. Soon after, with a couple hundred dollars, I bought a used camera from a repair shop. Only one shutter speed worked, but I carried it everywhere. The clunky limitations were actually a gift, I had to slow down, problem-solve, and pay closer attention to light, timing, and detail —teaching me how to truly see like the camera and use it to express myself visually.

Initially, my career began in fine art photography, exhibiting work nationally and internationally.

Locally, I discovered a community of photographers and artists nearby. I began assisting professional photographers —often for free—hauling equipment, helping out in the studio, sweeping floors, asking questions, and absorbing everything I could about the craft. I was fortunate to learn from several incredible mentors who generously encouraged me to become a professional photographer.

Today I run a vibrant photography business in Minneapolis, and I feel grateful every day to work with such a diverse and creative community.
